SMS Alerts Opt-In Process
TapFive (the consumer-facing brand of TapSnap LLC) sends transactional SMS review alerts to U.S. small-business owners who have a TapFive account and explicitly opt in. The opt-in flow lives inside the customer's authenticated dashboard at https://www.tapfivestars.com/dashboard/notifications (login required). This page documents that flow end-to-end, with unmodified screenshots of the exact interface, so it can be reviewed without a customer login.
How a customer opts in
- The business owner signs in to their TapFive account and opens Settings → Notifications.
- In Delivery channels, the SMS toggle is OFF by default — consent is never pre-selected:

- The owner switches the SMS toggle ON and enters their mobile number. The following consent disclosure is displayed directly beneath the phone field, at the point of opt-in:
“By saving a number you agree to receive automated transactional review-alert texts from TapFive, sent only within 8am–9pm local time. Msg frequency varies; msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.”

- On save, the consent event (timestamp, account, and the disclosure text shown) is recorded, and TapFive sends one confirmation text to the number. Recurring review alerts begin only after that confirmation message is delivered.
- The customer can opt out at any time by replying STOP (all standard opt-out keywords are honored), or by turning the SMS toggle off in the same settings screen. Replying HELP returns support contact information.
A second opt-in surface: after connecting Google Business Profile
Business owners may also be offered SMS alerts inside the app, right after they connect their Google Business Profile. The mechanics are identical to the settings flow above and consent is never pre-selected:
- The prompt appears only for signed-in owners who have no phone number on file, and only after they choose to continue past the connection-success screen — it can be skipped with one tap, and TapFive does not repeatedly prompt owners who decline.
- The owner must type their mobile number themselves and tap “Text me first”. The same consent disclosure quoted above is displayed directly beneath the phone field, at the point of opt-in.
- On submit, the consent event (timestamp, account, capturing surface, and the disclosure text shown) is recorded, and the same single confirmation text is sent. Recurring alerts begin only after that confirmation message is delivered. STOP / HELP behave exactly as described below.
